Some great UK DVD releases you might like to rent

Scary Movie 3 - An all star cast including Charlie Sheen, Pamela Anderson and Denise Richards ham it up in this hilarious spoof. Sending up horror block-busters such as Signs, other movie genres and pop culture, nothing is safe from the cutting comedy! Both Scary Movie 1 and 2 have been a huge success on rental and this will be just as popular. Aimed largely at a teen-age audience.

Lost In Translation - Directed by Sophia Coppola, this received much critical acclaim and earned both the male and female stars a BAFTA each, so awareness will already be high. Set in Tokyo, Bob (Bill Murray) is a despondent movie star who is in town to shoot a commercial, while Charlotte (Scarlett Johansson) is a young wife following her workaholic husband. As the unlikely pair meet one night through their shared insomnia, they strike up an unusual friendship. This story of loneliness and the human condition is both hysterically funny and beautifully poignant, and is essential viewing for all film lovers.

American Pie The Wedding- The gang is back for third helpings of outrageous comedy that will have audiences laughing out loud. Jim and Michelle are getting married…. Stifler as best man is planning the stag night and Jim's dad is in the background to give his fatherly advice. However, as the big day arrives things start to get out of hand and the antics soon become a guide to what not to do on your wedding day! This is set to do as well as its predecessors and become a comedy classic. - Out Now

Pirates Of The Caribbean - The Curse Of The Black Pearl- Cleaning up at the box office over the summer, this action extravaganza took a massive £26M and has only been surpassed by one other film all year (The Matrix Re-loaded). Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer (Pearl Harbor, Armageddon), with an all star cast and spectacular effects and this will be perfect for rental, especially with its pre-holiday release date. Johhny Depp steals the show as Captain Jack Sparrow, a loveable rogue who has been forced to abandon his ship by his enemy Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush). After Barbossa storms the town of Port Royal and kidnaps the governor's beautiful daughter Elizabeth (Keira Knightley), Sparrow joins forces with black-smith Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) to rescue the girl and save the day. With adventure, mystery, humour and beautiful art direction this has something for everyone. A Superb DVD

The Matrix Revolutions- The final chapter in the Wachowski brothers trilogy has taken a huge £18M so far in the UK alone and its release is much anticipated on video. With some of the most spectacular fight sequences and special effects ever committed to film, the mind blowing story finally concludes as Neo (Reeves), Trinity (Moss) and Morpheus (Fishburne) continue their fight against the Alien oppressors. Without doubt the biggest film of April2004. Full Matrix Revolutions Review

Girl With A Pearl Earring - When beautiful seventeen year old Griet (Scarlett Johansson- Lost In Translation) goes to work as a maid for the master painter Johannes Vermeer (Colin Firth- Bridget Jones’s Diary), she soon attracts his attention. Although worlds apart, they have a mutual understanding that transcends social boundaries and a passionate love affair soon ignites, inspiring one the greatest paintings ever created. However, Vermeer’s volatile family are not impressed by their growing relationship and conspire against them. Full of mystery and intrigue, this has received great critical acclaim and was B.A.F.T.A nominated in several categories.  Read a full Girl With A Pearl Earring Review Here!

Spy Kids 3D - In the third episode of the hugely popular Spy Kids franchise the kids are on their most dangerous mission yet when they must de-activate a computer game before it brainwashes the nation's children. A host of stars join Antonio Banderas and the resident spy-kids team, including Sylvester Stallone as the baddie and Salma Hayak as a fellow agent. Even George Clooney makes a guest appearance! This action packed adventure is great fun for all the family and took a sensational £21M. Get it on DVD to experience the amazing 3D effects.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre Remake - Based on a true story, this is the grisly remake of the original film that spawned the slash/teen horror genre. Appealing to a modern audience who will be intrigued to see this notorious tale for themselves, this is still shocking stuff.

Kill Bill Volume 1- The legendary Quentin Tarantino’s fourth film bursts onto the screen with unparalleled action and violence. Uma Thurman stars as the ‘Bride’, a former assassin who has been shot on her wedding day and left for dead. Awaking from a coma four years later, she is determined for revenge at any cost and starts a full on bloody war with her former boss. This epic tale of betrayal and revenge is not for the faint hearted, but with explosive action and an all star cast this is ground-breaking stuff. Kill Bill took £11.4M at the UK box office and its rental release date coincides with the theatrical release of Volume 2, ensuring maximum interest. Full Kill Bill Review and Kill Bill Vol 2 Review

Once Upon A Time In Mexico - A stunning 'A' list cast that includes Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayak, Johnny Depp, Mickey Rourke and Enrique Aglesias star in the final chapter of the 'Desperado' western trilogy. With explosive action set in the heat of the desert, this will warm up the coldest of winter nights!
